ABOUT GREY SUITER
MEET GREY
Grey Suiter is a dog trainer with a diverse background, a commitment to community care and harm reduction, and a deep love and understanding of challenging dogs.
Canines and Caregivers is a community resource for dog guardians and dog lovers which embraces and strives to support people and dogs of all abilities, needs, and backgrounds.
We provide empathetic, personalized, and inclusive care which finds solutions to conflicts and challenges without punishment or unnecessary force.
Welcome to the community resource where no question is stupid, and learning to live the life you dreamed of with your dog gets a whole lot easier.
Grey fell in love with the dog world when he took a job at a local kennel. Through ups and downs, dogs have been a consistent source of joy for him, especially the dogs labelled “difficult”.
Drawing from his extensive experience in various artistic fields such as freelance film-making and visual art, Grey brings a creative and unique approach to his work. Driven to find ways of connecting with challenging dogs in the shelter space, he dove into enrichment and Fear Free handling. Over his time in the shelter world, he helped hundreds of dogs find their new homes, and collaborated with the vet and behavior teams to give the animals the highest quality of life possible.
Grey is also an experienced foster, specializing in palliative care and medically and behaviorally complex dogs.
A firm believer in public service and community care, Grey worked closely with people as they struggled with tough decisions and big life changes. His time as an adoption advisor has shaped his dog training practice, where he upholds his values of harm reduction and empathy.
Grey has established connections with many local and international dog professionals he is proud to call his colleagues, and works under the direct supervision of a mentor with over 25 years of experience in the field. Although he is early in his career, he operates with the help of veterinary, shelter, and training professionals and frequently seeks guidance and deeper understanding from industry veterans.
Grey is committed to continued education and is a proud member of the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC) working towards the title of Certified Dog Behavior Consultant.
His diverse background includes experience with children, volunteering at non-profits, and a deep commitment to diversity and inclusivity for people with disabilities, families, and LGBTQ+ individuals.
When he’s not training, you’ll find him making art and exploring the beaches and woods of the PNW with his rescue dog Taro.
